The Little Things
Below is a visual paintings for story idea, The Little Things. The story follows a girl who hides her emotions behind a fragile mask, she narrates about the consequences of not using your words with care, and the damage they can inflict on others as her own masks crumbles.
Setting is loosely based off of a modern yet rustic european city. All visual paintings created in Adobe Photoshop.
Presented are the story beats, showing some of the key moments of the story that are meant to be impactful. As you scroll down we see that the one character’s words are literally damaging Trista’s mask. To further push the idea that thoughtless words can hurt, even if we don’t mean them to.

As we follow Trista along her mask starts to crack more and more, until it’s barely being held together.
Until finally her mask shatters, which reveals her true feelings that she was hiding beneath the mask. Again a more physical embodiment of what it’s like to emotionally break down. Finally releasing all the pent up emotions that she’s been suppressing for way too long.
Then come morning she puts on a new mask, repeating the toxic cycle of bottling up her emotions, and not letting anyone know how she really feels.
Character deign for main character Trista Darnell. without mask. She’s a 25 year old female, who wears a mask to hide her real emotions. She’s too afraid to let others know of her dark emotions that lie beneath. Created in Adobe Photoshop.
Early character design with turn-around.
